Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21 in 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. Particularly, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington from Ohio dropped out of high school and moved to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the online video series Rachel's Room in the year 2001. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she played 15-years-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television series in 2004. She was the main protagonist for two seasons and was awarded an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. The show ended in 2005 and Grace wanted to appear as a film actress, and had played opposite Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress has also appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club as well in 2007 and Taken with Liam Neeson in 2008 as Kim Mills. She reprised her role as Kim Mills in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice In Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. In 2013, she was a guest in the sixth series of Californication. She plays Faith an actress in a group and as her muse to the stars that catches the eye of Hank Moody played by David Duchovny. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager, she played small parts in her father's movies and co-starred with her older brother in Donnie Darko, a cult classic. She then appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal received nominations for an Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films were critically acclaimed. After several commercially successful films in 2006 including World Trade Center she received more attention for her role as Rachel Dawes in the superhero film The Dark Knight (2008). The film was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part in Crazy Heart, (2009). She then was in comedies and dramas such as Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012 Her other roles included Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 an action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) as well as The Kindergarten Teacher. Gyllenhaal was first introduced as a writer and director in 2021 with her psychological drama The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received an award for the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
